Chancellor Hawgood is the Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Distinguished Professor. His career at UCSF, which began when he joined the university as a research fellow in 1982, includes serving as dean of the UCSF School of Medicine, vice chancellor for medical affairs, chair of the Department of Pediatrics, and associate director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute. Chancellor Hawgood trained in pediatrics as a resident and specialized in neonatology as a fellow. He was named UCSF Chancellor in July 2014.
